With further reference to your favour of the 25th instant, T.A.27328/1915, dealing with a complaint as to the food supplied etc. on board the Transport "MANITOU", during the voyage to the Mediterranean (9th - 21st June), as mentioned to you in an interview which you were good enough to grant the writer on the 28th instant, and to which we venture to state you agreed, this complaint is, to say the least of it, somewhat trivial and not at all in accordance with the report of the Military Commanding Ufficer on board this steamer for the voyage mentioned.

Dealing with the complaint as to the food supplied, we beg to state that not only were the meals given in accordance with regulations laid down, but, as is the case on all the steamers in this Company acting as Transports, the Menu was exceeded and we quote from the above mentioned Officer's report regarding Question 9 which reads:-

"Has there been any cause of complaint of the *Provisions, or Medical Comforts, either as regards "quantity or quality, or any inattention in their issue"

to which the answer given was "lo", in fact the report was entirely satisfactory and Lt. Col. Matthew summed up the report

with the following general remarks:-
